With all the angst, anger and post-game complaining, the GOP has been given a huge opening to finally get the upper hand on an issue usually reserved for the Democrats — healthcare. During every election season, on nearly every issue, a sitting President and his political Party get to play offense because the bully pulpit lies in the Executive branch where sudden changes in policy, surprise announcements and big foreign policy decisions can alter the agenda without notice. And while it might seem that President Obama has secured a victory on health care, once again giving him an advantage over the GOP, I think all is not as it might seem.

WHO ARE THE LOSERS IN HEALTH CARE DEBATE – GOP, DEMS? NO, IT’S THE PATIENTS AND THE DOCTORS
Right about now, as the talking heads and mainstream media finish dissecting the recall in Wisconsin, they will turn their attention to the Supreme Court’s decision on the President’s health care Law. And rightfully so. They will talk about whether or not President Obama will win if he loses, if the GOP will lose if it is overturned, that the Dems will be gifted a riled up base if it is smacked down. All sorts of political permutations, winners and losers.

Another Headache for the President on Healthcare
When President Obama and his colleagues in Congress drafted the bills that eventually became his signature achievement – affectionately referred to as Obamacare – they were careful to craft a timeline that would require implementation of the “carrots” immediately, while delaying the appearance of the “sticks” until after the 2012 Election. Funny thing about that plan — many Americans are finding out too soon that there are a ton of “sticks” about to hit them over the head.
Case in point: An honest reading of the President’s Health Care Law reveals that the cost of insurance for the younger and healthier in our society will skyrocket beginning in 2014. Without getting too far into the weeds, let me explain.

History Repeats Itself For The GOP On Health Care?
A popular topic of conversation these days for DC pundits, Sunday talking heads and op/ed writers is: “Which political Party will be hurt more if the Supreme Court over turns all, or a portion of, the President’s Health Care Law?” One fairly well known Los Angeles Times writer examined the issue from all angles and concluded that “only time will tell”. Well, that certainly qualifies him as a man of strong conviction!
